Make Homemade Cinnamon Rolls For Sunday Brunch

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon rolls

There is nothing better than the smells of warm, gooey cinnamon buns. These don’t last very long at my house. Even the kids that aren’t living at home seem to know when mom is making them and are sure to come by to steal some.

INGREDIENTS

Dough

1 pkg  active dry yeast

1/4 cup warm water

3/4 cup lukewarm milk (scalded then cooled)

1/4 cup sugar

1 tsp salt

1 egg

1/4 cup butter or margarine softened

3 1/2 to 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

4 tbsp margarine, softened

Filling

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 to 3 tsp cinnamon

Mix together

Icing

1 1/2 cups icing sugar

1 tbsp milk

1/2 tsp vanilla

Mix until smooth

INSTRUCTIONS

Dough

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix in next 5 ingredients and 2 cups flour. Stir. Mix in enough of the remaining flour until it forms a dough. Knead about 5 minutes on a floured surface. Place in greased bowl; turn grease side up. Cover: let rise in warm place until double about 1 1 /2 to 2 hours. Punch down dough and divide into 4 sections.

Roll out dough into rectangles; spread with margarine. Sprinkle filling over rectangle. Roll up; pinch edges to seal well. Cut roll into 1″ slices. Place in greased baking dish, slightly apart. Let rise until double. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 325 F. Frost with icing while rolls are still warm.
